The Rev’d Craig Vance, Interim Priest
Our rector, the Rev’d Maly Hughes became rector of St. Andrew’s, Saratoga and Fr Craig was appointed as our intentional interim priest to lead and empower us as we prepare to call a new priest.
He is a Canadian from Vancouver where he was an Anglican priest for 10 years before taking a call to an Episcopal Church on Maui, Hawai’ii in 2016. He assisted at Trinity Cathedral here in San José during the pandemic lockdown as Digital Evangelist in video production and liturgy. He served as extended supply at St. Andrew’s, Ben Lomond and interim priest at All Saints, Palo Alto.
He has two adult children: Daniel with partner Nikki and their two children Kiran (1) and Bobbi (2 weeks :-) in Vancouver and daughter Amadea and partner Warren in Halifax, Novia Scotia. When not grandfathering he likes to cycle and hike. He is an avid photographer specializing in landscape and Milky Way and night photography.
He is passionate about translating the glory and joy of The Great Tradition to a new generation. He especially welcomes people looking for an authentic community of faith and especially to people who may be spiritual refugees looking for a place that seeks to makes the Way of Love the primary thing about being Christian. Though we are in transition, Fr. Craig believes that we can still do amazing things and have fun as the people of God as we seek to become all that God wants us to be and to do in the 12-18 months it takes to prepare for and call a new priest.
