Adult Spiritual Formation Ministries

Adult spiritual formation is an essential support for our lifelong Christian journey. We carefully balance opportunities to learn and grow in Christ with activities dedicated primarily to fellowship and fun (and some with a little of both mixed together).

Sacred Conversations
Sundays at 11:00 a.m.

Current Topic:
Why Christianity Must Change or Die by John Shelby Spong
A Zoom Book Study led by Jerry Lane

Bishop Spong integrates his often controversial stands on the Bible, Jesus, theism, and morality into an intelligible creed that speaks to today's thinking Christian. In this compelling and heartfelt book, he sounds a rousing call for a Christianity based on critical thought rather than blind faith, on love rather than judgment, and that focuses on life more than religion.

LABRYINTH
We have a permanent outdoor labyrinth painted on the patio which is open to all. The labyrinth has a single path that leads you into the center and back out again. Walking the labyrinth is symbolic of a pilgrimage or other spiritual journey and is usually done in prayer or meditation. We plan occasional events focusing on the labyrinth.

Reading Between the Lines
Wednesdays at 10 a.m.

Join us every Wednesday as we delve into scripture. We are a diverse group from churches across Silicon Valley. All are welcome.

WE TELL STORIES . . . AS HUMAN BEINGS, SPIRITUAL BEINGS, MEANING-MAKING BEINGS . . . WE TELL STORIES.

Where do these stories come from?  From the biblical narratives, of course. But also from books, videos, films, newspapers, magazines, YouTube, Twitter, sacred literature, short stories, plays, poetry, and talk across backyards, or in the grocery checkout lane. Stories occur in any medium that includes the issues or polarities alive in the classrooms of our lives. They have the power to reach down inside and crack open the tight places. Stories are the way, in, down, around, that let us see the patterns that are in all people. Reading Between the Lines is a weekly exploration on one of the biblical stories we will hear for the upcoming Sunday Eucharist.  Our tools for the exploration are not answers, or scholarly reporting, but questions designed to help us reach down inside and crack open the tight places.   In this way we search for what was below the story in the biblical text, where this story is found in our world today and where we know this story in our own lives.

Open to all seekers
.  No prior biblical knowledge needed, just your own life:  Wednesday mornings 10-Noon in the Library.  For more information contact the Rev. Canon Jerry Drino jdrino@gmail.com
