Children and Youth Programs

At St. Francis we believe that children, by virtue of their baptism, are full members of the Body of Christ. This means that they are full participants in our common life of prayer, witness and service. We welcome children and their families and seek to proclaim the Gospel in ways that let them receive and respond to God’s love. Our children’s ministries are designed to nurture children in their faith through education, fellowship and by allowing them to share their unique gifts with all of us.
SUNDAY MORNING FAITH FORMATION
Currently all children are grouped together in 1 classroom with lessons using Godly Play, Liturgy, and special themed series for certain months or seasons. Special High School sessions available upon interest. Classes are held each Sunday at 10:15 a.m. Following class time, children and youth join their families for the remainder of the church service and Holy Communion. Come for a visit and pop into a class. We'd love to have you. REGISTER HERE For more information, contact Leah Tedeschi. |

![]() ACOLYTE SERVICE
An acolyte is a young person who performs ceremonial duties at the altar such as carrying the processional cross, lighting the candles, and assisting the priests prepare for Holy Communion. At St. Francis, the acolyte program is an integral part of our children’s Christian experience and offers them the ability to be fully participating members of the church. Acolytes typically serve one Sunday per month. Junior acolytes are paired with more seasoned acolytes to help them learn the ropes and gain confidence at the altar. Acolytes may choose to stay in church during the full service or excuse themselves after the procession to attend church school with their friends. New members are always welcome. Questions about the Acolyte Program may be directed to our acolyte director, Bill Johnston . Contact the office and you will be directed to Bill. |

SUMMER PROGRAMS
Beginning in mid-June, church school takes a break, and we continue with a summer program of stories and crafts on Sunday mornings, and special events to gather together outside church time.
The youth partake in a week long service trip with Sierra Service Project (dependent on interest). These trips have served indigenous communities in Arizona, Northern CA, Southern CA and Oregon.

FAMILY EVENTS
Families are at the center of parish life at St. Francis. Some of the family events that take place throughout the year include: Advent wreath making, neighborhood Christmas caroling, Easter egg hunt, cookie baking, resurrection gardens, and costume contest. We always welcome new parents to join our CY&F (children, youth and family) Committee and help us organize and plan events. New ideas and creativity are always appreciated. Our motto for organizing events is “many hands make light work.”
