Adult Spiritual Formation Ministries

Adult spiritual formation is an essential support for our lifelong Christian journey. We carefully balance opportunities to learn and grow in Christ with activities dedicated primarily to fellowship and fun (and some with a little of both mixed together).

SACRED CONVERSATIONS Sundays at 9:05 a.m. in the Wickham Room
Cultivating Love and Wisdom 101:
“God became human so that humans can become God.”   -St. Athanasius
Theosis is the theological term for the divinization of humans. Some Eastern Orthodox theologians say that even if Adam and Eve had never sinned, Jesus would have incarnated just so that humans would know their divine nature. This series of classes will look at spiritual practices: cultivating mindfulness; developing compassion and equanimity.  Drawing on practices from both Christian and world wisdom traditions, this is an introduction on how to become the light of the world. For more information contact Michael Burroughs
NO CLASS FEBRUARY 10 DUE TO THE ANNUAL MEETING

READING BETWEEN THE LINES WEEKLY BIBLE STUDY

Reading Between the Lines meets Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. in the Library. We believe in stories. Stories are how we make sense of our own experience and learn about the experience of others. We are surrounded by stories in conversations and through the media. The Bible is full of stories too. They speak to us of what is best and worst, hopeful and despairing, creative and destructive about human life and the experience of the sacred in its midst. Join us as we discover ourselves in the Bible Story.

Fee is $10/quarter for printing and curriculum subscription.

BOOK CLUB
We meet monthly and read and discuss a wide range and genre of books.  We are take turns as discussion leaders. Feel welcome to join us anytime, whether you've read the book or not.  All are welcome. For more info contact Stephenie Cooper

WOMEN'S MINISTRIES
Women coming together to support each other in our faith journey and lives.

LENTEN SOUP SUPPERS
During the season of Lent we share a simple soup supper on Sundays and have a program (with a separate program for the younger children). Programs in the past have included a focus on the liturgies of Holy Week, a whirlwind overview of the Bible, and a look at some of the first apostles.

LABRYINTH
We have a permanent outdoor labyrinth painted on the patio which is open to all. The labyrinth has a single path that leads you into the center and back out again. Walking the labyrinth is symbolic of a pilgrimage or other spiritual journey and is usually done in prayer or meditation. We plan occasional events focusing on the labyrinth.

 FRANCES WILLIAMSON LIBRARY
We are privileged to have an extremely well stocked and well organized library on site. Not only are there many books focusing on theology, the Bible, and spirituality, but there are also a lot of history resources and a nice collection of fiction. There is a self check-out system. The library is open to all parishioners.
